Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought defined Takfir (excommunication) as murder of character, ideology and in fact murder of a member of Islamic nation.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, attending the first webinar of the 35th International Islamic Unity Conference referred to the theme for the annual event saying that the world forum has proposed a notional model for unified Islamic Ummah and for the union of Islamic countries, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said that the notional model for unified Islamic Ummah should be discussed in four levels the first level of which is discussed in the theme for present conference “Islamic Unity, Peace and Avoidance of Division and Conflict in the World of Islam.”
He noted, “Once Muslims intend to achieve unified Islamic Ummah, they should interact and avoid division or any form of damage or aggression in words or thoughts against each other.”
The cleric warned of warfare as the most aggressive form of conflict hailing calls for peace in the world of Islam and that any type of disagreement or conflict would not necessarily classified as warfare.
The cleric also warned of assassination in the world of Islam as the second thing which should be avoided and quoted the holy Qur’an which bans homicide saying to kill one person is in fact murder of an entire society.
Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought counted Takfir as the third thing to be avoided in the world of Islam stressing Takfir is in fact murder of the character, thought and an individual who has been defined as member of the Islamic nation though he is doomed to be killed over alleged atheism.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari reiterated fraternity as a constant call and recommendation in the holy book of Islam and said it is a religious mandate to contribute for fraternal ties between members of our Islamic society.
He enumerated conflict as the fourth thing which should be abhorred in the world of Islam and warned of dispute for the fifth issue which should be avoided by Muslims.

Led by Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, Iran's World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has scheduled to hold the 35th Islamic Unity Conference on October 19-24, 2021 as more than 500 Muslim intellectuals, thinkers and religious experts will discuss their views on the latest issues in the world of Islam in 24 webinars.
The theme for 35th Islamic Unity Conference is “Islamic Unity, Peace and Avoidance of Division and Conflict in the Islamic World” as participants discuss the latest situation in the world of Islam. Two meetings will particularly detail the views on the issue of Palestine and late Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, the late advisor of Supreme Leader and former secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.
