In West Azerbaijan Province, Dr. Zafar Najjar, Vice President of the Council of Muslim Scholars of South Africa, and Mawlavi Lotf al-Rahman, a Bangladeshi media figure, both guests of the 40th International Conference on Islamic Unity, took part in a number of programs held during Unity Week.
On 4 Shahrivar 1405, the two guests delivered addresses at the “Civilization-Building Scholar” Gathering, held at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosque in Urmia.
Dr. Zafar Najjar: Emphasizing Unity and Solidarity within the Muslim Ummah
In his address, Dr. Zafar Najjar congratulated the audience on the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and emphasized the importance of serving people, highlighting the Prophet’s teachings on brotherhood among Muslims.
Referring to the Quranic verse, “Hold firmly, all together, to the rope of Allah and do not be divided,” he stressed the importance of strengthening unity across the Muslim Ummah, calling on Muslims to refrain from harming one another and to work toward greater solidarity and cohesion.
Dr. Zafar Najjar also referred to the experience of the people of South Africa in relation to the Islamic Revolution of Iran, emphasizing the importance of steadfastness and Muslim unity in confronting challenges.
Mawlavi Lotf al-Rahman: The Modern Islamic Civilization and the Responsibility of Scholars
Mawlavi Lotf al-Rahman, a political and social analyst with Bangladesh’s national broadcaster, addressed the components of modern Islamic civilization during the gathering. Among the key foundations he highlighted were faithful and insightful leadership and the sacrifices of the martyrs.
He also referred to developments in Gaza and Lebanon, emphasizing the responsibility of religious scholars to raise awareness among younger generations, support the people of Gaza and Lebanon, and counter division and discord.
As part of the guests’ continued program in West Azerbaijan Province, Dr. Zafar Najjar and Mawlavi Lotf al-Rahman met with Hojjat al-Islam Dr. Seyyed Mehdi Qureshi, Representative of the Supreme Leader in West Azerbaijan Province and Friday Prayers Leader of Urmia.
The two guests also visited Noor Mosque, where they met and held discussions with professors and students of the Noor Religious School in Urmia.
