Hujjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Mehdi Qureishi in an interview with the provincial correspondent of Taqrib News Agency, congratulated in advance on the occasion of Unity Week and said: “Undoubtedly, different Islamic denominations have a lot in common and these differences should not lead to tension and war with each other because there are natural differences in denominations. There are also religious and scientific differences, but these differences should never lead to wars and tensions.”
He added: “In this regard, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution explicitly emphasized to all Shiites that insulting the sanctities of the Sunnis is forbidden, so Imam Khamenei, both as a leader and as an Islamologist and theologian, stated and issued a fatwa on this issue, so it is everyone’s duty to follow this issue, just as Sunni scholars have not considered the issue of insulting Shiite Islamic sanctities to be correct.”
The representative of the Supreme Leader in West Azerbaijan Province and the Friday prayer leader of Urmia said: “If the fatwa of the religious leaders is carried out, the issue of unity will become more and more prevalent in the society.”
He went on to emphasize that the Takfiris are the product of US-led global arrogance in order to sow discord among Muslims, adding that US officials have explicitly stated that they created ISIS and that Takfiri groups have emerged from it.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Qureishi emphasized: “Therefore, Takfir is a political issue and in this regard, in the religion of Islam and in Shiite and Sunni sources, it is fully stated that if someone acknowledges the oneness of God the Almighty, he accepts the existence of the Prophet (PBUH) and says his prayer to the qibla, his blood, wealth and reputation must be preserved and he must be recognized as a Muslim.”
He said: “Therefore, the Takfiris are completely the product of the enemies and their conspiracies. Otherwise, in the basic Shiite and Sunni texts, the issue of extremism and Takfir is forbidden. If you see the religion of Islam, the problem becomes clear.”
The representative of the Supreme Leader in West Azerbaijan and the Friday prayer leader of Urmia said: “Undoubtedly, if we leave aside the religious principles, then divisions and differences will escalate, so we must pay attention to political issues because Takfiris are products of enemies of religion, especially the United States. We should listen to the words of Allah in the Qur’an and the prophet (PBUH) that invite everyone to unity.”
