At the beginning of the meeting, Hujjat-ul-Islam wal-Muslimin, Qazi Asgar, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, while welcoming the guests, mentioned adherence to the Holy Quran, defending the Prophetic tradition and adherence to the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) as ways to achieve unity among the Muslim Ummah.
Qazi Asgar emphasized: Paying attention to the common issues between the Islamic Ummah and not insulting the sanctities of other Denominations is another important way to achieve unity among the Islamic Ummah.
Osama Hamdan, a member of Hamas' political bureau, while congratulating the soul of Imam Khomeini and greeting the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, thanked all those who strive for unity and said: "Unity is a religious duty and in the Qur'an and Tradition is emphasized.
He added: "We have been standing against Takfiri seditions for many years, but it must be said that some of Islam itself incites seditions." Today, we succeeded in overthrowing the seditions, but the enemy has not stopped trying and will not be disappointed; Therefore, we should not be disappointed and we should stand up.
Hamdan, stating that stability against the oppressors requires resistance, said: "We have been very successful in this field because of Iran's sincerity and support."
A member of Hamas' political bureau stressed that our interest is in unity, not division: "We must spread the culture of unity and stand against intellectual deviation and make our youth aware of the existing issues and conspiracies."
He also noted that the issue of Palestine is accepted by all nations as the main issue and they can consider it as a matter of unity.
Aziz Babaei, the Imam of the Sunni Sadeghieh Mosque in Tehran, continued: "We must remind the message of the Islamic Republic to all Muslims that the duty of unity must prevail among all the Muslim Ummah."
He said: "Unity has this miracle to increase the power of Islam, if we have strong enemies today and we face many problems, the Islamic Ummah can solve it with its strong principles."
Imam of the Sunni Sadeghieh Mosque in Tehran pointed out: Multiplicity is not allowed in today's difficult conditions and falling into the trap of extremists is an unforgivable sin. The conspiracies of the enemies must be resisted.
In the end, he emphasized: We, Shiite and Sunni scholars, condemn the shedding of innocent blood and target the enemies of Islam.
Yassin al-Mousawi, the Friday prayer leader of Baghdad, also thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran, and especially the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, for holding the conference, saying that calling for Islamic unity is a governing principle from the perspective of Shiite jurisprudence.
The Friday Imam of Baghdad emphasized: Islamic unity is not a pious and expedient matter; this view has been accepted among the great Shiite jurists.
He pointed out: The differences between Shiites and Sunnis have left the scientific and intellectual issues and entered the arena of social conflicts, and this process is led by the United States and the Zionists.
In conclusion, he stressed that the Iraqi people, just as they shamefully expelled the Americans from their country, do not allow the divisive policies of the United States and Israel to be implemented specifically in Iraq.
Yashar Sharif Damatuglu, a member of the faculty of the Faculty of Theology at Aristotle University in Greece, referring to the condemned and praised differences, said: Differences have been from the beginning of creation and it is an instinct issue. However, different schools of thought have always lived with each other despite differences.”
He continued: "We desperately need empathy and open-mindedness." We need to talk about commonalities and use the etiquette of disagreement, because etiquette can increase our strength.
Ayatollah Ahmad Moballeghi, a member of the Assembly of Experts on Leadership, said that Islam is different from its Shari'a: "Shari'a can move our social issues towards God."
He continued: The issue of the Islamic Ummah is not an ordinary and social issue, but is the basis of other issues, if we do not have a nation, we have no social issue.
Moballeghi added: Why do we not have the jurisprudence of the Islamic Ummah? Why did we leave cooperation between the Islamic Ummah? However, this is an issue that cannot be ignored.
He stated: One of the characteristics of the jurisprudence of the Islamic Ummah is that we get out of the stage of dry and empty slogans and reach the stage of action. Unity is a very important issue that has unfortunately been neglected.
The member of the Assembly of Experts stated: Unity is the Islamic duty of the Ummah that must be done; Therefore, peace and brotherhood must be established among the Ummah.
He stressed that the Shiite and Sunni seminaries should establish the jurisprudence of unity and brotherhood.
As part of the meeting, Sheikh Fawzi Seydou, the Mufti of Russia, described the Zionist attempt to infiltrate Russia's capital, as well as the problems facing unity among Muslims.
